Full implementation of the Autrix Control System & warehouse automation
Established in 2008, Wayland Games Limited is Europe’s largest independent retailer for tabletop hobbies, serving a passionate community of gamers and collectors across the UK and Europe.
Wayland Games required automation to support their continued growth and expansion into a new 50,000 square foot facility near Brentwood, Essex.
Previous order volumes and capacity constraints
Staff walking distances before automation
Peak season pressures (e.g., new game releases, Christmas)
Specific pain points with manual processes
Error rates or dispatch time issues
Scaling with confidence
Working closely with Wayland Games, we implemented an AMR goods-to-person solution integrated with the Autrix Automation Control System (ACS). The system went live in March 2025, handling the company's full range of tabletop gaming products across their new facility.
Products are brought directly to ergonomically designed picking stations, so operators no longer need to walk long distances. This enables faster, more accurate order processing while reducing physical demands on warehouse staff.
Following the success of the initial deployment, we implemented fit-to-size packing automation in November 2025. This creates right-sized boxes for each order, reducing packaging waste and shipping costs.
The new facility reflects Wayland Games' commitment to sustainability, featuring solar panels and energy-efficient lighting. ACS supports this by reducing operational waste through intelligent order consolidation and optimised picking routes.
42 robots
AMRs capable of moving up to 2 m/s with a 600kg payload
700 racks
Mobile racking to accommodate stock
46,000 bins
Extra stock storage bins to provide increased capacity with automation
9 workstations
Designed around the user with software to automate repetitive tasks
The deployment has delivered measurable improvements across Wayland Games' fulfilment operation.
The Automation Control System (ACS) and AMR goods-to-person solution now handle the company's full product range. The same warehouse team is processing double the order volume, with pick rates more than doubling since go-live.
Orders can now move from placement to dispatch in 40 minutes. During peak periods, this speed and consistency gives Wayland Games the capacity to meet demand without adding headcount.
With fit-to-size packing automation now live, the operation is positioned for continued growth.
Reduction in order processing time
Same team, significantly faster fulfilment
Improvement in packing speed
Orders are packed and dispatched in seconds, rather than minutes
“What sets Autrix apart is their genuine partnership approach – they didn’t just install equipment and leave. They’ve worked alongside us to optimise operations and ensure we’re getting maximum value from the investment.”
